What made you want to start making YouTube videos, and what age were you when you started making them?

Before Youtube, I used to sit in a green beanbag chair wearing a sombrero, holding a hedgehog Beanie Baby and talking about “science.” Hmm, maybe I’ll do that for a new video.

Also, how old are you currently, and what grade are you in?  (if you are still in high school) And do many people at your school know that you make videos?

Right now I’m 18, just graduated high school! Lots of people knew I make videos, and lots of people made fun of me in middle school, and when I started high school. But by senior year that was all done.

How long from start to finish does it take you to make a video (on average), and what software do you use to edit?

It totally depends. A prank call can take a few hours—first I keep calling people until I get a good call recorded. I usually make about 10 calls before getting one I’m happy with. Usually the funniest calls last at least half hour, so then it takes me another 2-3 hours to edit that down to four or five minutes.

Do you plan to go to college? If so, what for?

Yes! As of when I’m writing this, I’ll be leaving for college in a month. I’m going for film.

How long after you started making videos did you start to gain a significant amount of subscribers? And was there one specific video that made you more popular?

After my first four years on Youtube, I had about 1,000 subscribers. I was featured on some collab channels, which got me some more viewers, and then a year or two later I made a parody of Rebecca Black’s song “Friday.” That really helped, it got me like 40,000 subscribers. Then it just kind of grew naturally from there.

Have you been to every VidCon? And how do you feel about the amount of attendees this year compared to last and the year before?

I have! And I enjoyed it this year just as much as the other two years. It was cool having more people, I liked it! You could really get a feel for how large the community is.

Do you want to make YouTube your full-time job (if it already isn’t)? Do you have any dream jobs?

That’s the dream! I can totally make that happen.

Who is your favorite YouTube celebrity? Also, who is your favorite non-YouTube celebrity?

That’s a tough one, because what’s a Youtube “celebrity,” you know? Here are my favorite Youtubers: gwatsky, mytoecold, DashieXP, SlyFoxComedy, and AMilonakis. There’s probably way more but that’s off the top of my head.

Do you plan out what you are going to say for your prank calls before you call, or is it mostly improvised?

I always go into the call with some kind of idea for what I’ll tell them (a situation, complaint, question, etc) but afterwards it’s all improvised. I like to kind of veer off into non-sequitur territory often, which catches them off guard, but not too much, or else they’ll realize it’s a prank call and most likely hang up.

What is your favorite kind of video to make? (vlog, music video, prank calls, etc..)

I really enjoy making music videos. It’s a really awesome sense of accomplishment when you finish recording the song and it’s really catchy and stuff. Then after spending a while filming it to get the coolest shots, editing it together into a complete package is really satisfying.
